“I’m an Episcopalian and your constituent from [City, State], and I support refugee resettlement in the U.S. I am strongly opposed to President Trump’s announcements to stop the resettlement of refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen; pause the refugee resettlement program entirely; and reduce the number of refugees we welcome. This announcement does not reflect the welcome for refugees I see in my community every day. I support a program that protects our national security interests while continuing our nation’s admirable tradition of resettling the most vulnerable populations around the world. I urge you to do everything in your power to see this announcement reversed.”
Please also share a personal story about why refugee resettlement is important to you and your community. Let them know the specific ways that refugees contribute to and are welcomed into your community.
We want to know that you’re taking part in the 2×4 Fight for Refugees Campaign. Log your calls using this form.
In addition to these calls, we urge you to use the RCUSA Toolkit for Welcoming Refugees for other ideas on how to welcome refugees and show support. Within the kit are suggestions for important activities like meeting with your elected officials face to face, hosting a Refugees Welcome event, attending town halls, and creating and sustaining a team for advocacy work.
