Diane Cox, RN, BSN has been ordained into the Diaconate

Diane Cox, RN, BSN has been ordained into the Diaconate, within the Episcopal Church, on January 8, 2023. She can now be called “Deacon Diane” and formally addressed as The Rev. Deacon Diane Cox.

I first came to know Diane through a 4 yr. course we were enrolled in called “Education for Ministry”. I knew Diane, as a nurse, was interested in Faith Community Nursing and I had talked to her about it in the Fall of 2019. Of course, Covid-19 changed our lives and for some, like Diane, her life’s direction.

With the guidance of the local Episcopal Commission on Ministry and the support of her home church, clergy and friends Diane has spent the last 2 years taking classes including specific Anglican studies and workshops. Part of her journey had also been to complete the Faith Community Nursing course. I’m pleased to report that the Parish Nurse Ministries of New York, Inc. Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course will begin on Feb 24th.

Diane has already begun her congregational nursing practice by sponsoring monthly B/P clinics, visiting for end-of-life care, and more. Her ministry will primarily be with congregations in Genesee co.  Congratulations to Deacon Diane Cox and we wish you well with your Ministry and nursing ministry as a Faith Community Nurse.
