Athena Tucker is a Faith Community Nurse in the Niagara Region of New York. She voluntarily serves her local community in North Tonawanda by providing health screenings and health education at Fair Haven’s Community Center. In addition to volunteering in the community, Athena is employed at Mount St. Mary’s Neighborhood Health Center in Niagara Falls as a Care Coordinator. In her Care Coordinator role, Athena completes behavioral health screenings, brief interventions, and links individuals to needed treatment resources. Athena has proven to be a strong advocate for those in need and has begun a project to advocate for the role of the Faith Community Nurse. It is her hope to further the specialty area of Faith Community Nursing by reaching out to the leadership of faith communities in the Niagara Region and recruiting Registered Nurses to answer the call of the Divine.
